Family Scrapbook 2010-2012

Last month I finally got around to ordering pictures for my next scrapbook to go along with the first one that I made. Once I actually got down to it I got the whole thing done in a week. I kept all my supplies spread out on the living room floor (my husband loves me) and did a few pages after work each day. I already had a lot of random craft and scrapbook supplies so besides the pictures I only bought some new pages, page covers, and double sided tape. Scrapbooks can get expensive and it is tempting to buy all the cool stuff that is out there but I wanted to try to work with what I had.

My purchases

All spread out with a spot for me in the middle. Facing the TV of course.
And of course some of the finished pages. Now that this one is done, in a couple of months I will have to make a new one!

My Biannual Scrapbooking

For the anniversary of our two years of dating, I made my boyfriend-now-husband a scrapbook. It was a big scrapbook with pictures of our first two years together. I spent a lot of time on it and really enjoyed it. I also spent a lot of money on the scrapbook...I told him that if we ever broke up I wanted it back, ha. I decided that I would make one every two years. This was February 2010...And it is now November 2013 and I have not made another one and it is almost time for me to make a third scrapbook! So time to get on that all ready.

I have a Snapfish account and they send me regular emails with coupons. I got one last week for 300 prints at a penny each! So I figured now would be a good time to make my scrapbook. I went through my computer and Facebook and ordered 238 pictures which was only $2.38! And $12 in shipping...but still a good deal. This will be my scrapbook for 2010-2012. A lot happened in those years! We got engaged, I graduated twice, we got married, and we bought a house! We shall see how long it takes for me to actually put it together...last time I spent a couple of months on it. Thankfully I already have a scrapbook I bought on sale about three years ago, ha, scrapbook paper and various stickers that I have picked up over the years when on sale.

Here are some pictures of my first scrapbook (I made 45 pages total)...Definitely not professional or something you would see at a scrapbooking party. But it is personal and that is all that matters! I do love the photo books you can make online now but something about the scrapbook is just more special to me.

Birthday Number 26

Happy Birthday to my husband Pascal! We had a nice relaxing day off of work today with presents and lots of food of course.

This past weekend we had family over to celebrate Pascal's birthday and to watch the Redskins game (He is a Raven's fan so the loss didn't ruin the party for him). We had lots of food, party hats, and even mustaches.

Cutest guys there

And the Birthday festivities are now over. Although it is still his birthday week which I am all about. I like birthday months as well :)

Colorful 5K

Apparently getting paint all over myself at home is not enough...So I finally did one of the color runs that are very in right now. There are a couple different ones but that one I did was the Color In Motion 5K. Now the "color" part of the run is actually dyed cornstarch that gets thrown at you by race staff and other race participants.

It was my friend Kiersten's idea and I even found a Groupon to help with the cost. My husband and I did it with Kiersten and Jake which definitely made it more fun.

I am not a runner like my dad and I haven't done a 5K since I was 13. But this one was a great one to do because it is a fun run. It is not timed, there were lots of families, and a lot of people walked.

It was a beautiful fall day last weekend in DC and there were a ton of people out for the race. Including a lot of people with fun costumes/outfits. We all wore sunglasses or hats to try to keep the color dust out of our eyes. Kiersten bought us all fun striped socks.

We got there an hour and a half before the race which helped with parking and also in being one of the first waves to start. We were nice and clean when we started. The event gave us the shirts with our registration.

You get a lot of color on you during the race but also after. That is when most people use their color packets that you are given. For the "after party" there was a big crowd, a stage with people dancing, and a DJ.

I brought towels with us for the car on the ride home...Our shirts looked really cool after we were done. And I wanted to keep them that way. The event itself recommends soaking in vinegar, ironing, then washing. However after reading around on the internet it seemed that this was met with limited success by real people. Either the color came out after washing or the colors just looked faded and blended together. So after agonizing over it (this is serious stuff people) I finally decided just to wash them. I didn't add any stain remover or anything. And afterwards....completely clean. There was one blue spot on my shirt so I just sprayed that with Shout and washed again.

I am sad that I didn't get to preserve the color in the shirts. But at least we have pictures and I think we will probably be more likely to wear the shirts again now then if we tried to keep the color and it just turned brown.

I would recommend doing a color run to anyone and I would do it again!
